Dec 11 '01 News. Commendation Letter from UNC's Office of the President for Centers & Institutes Work. InfoMatters praised for their system that enables a primary means to address the diverse mission of the 16-campus UNC system is through centers and institutes (hereafter, "centers"). Such units, currently 180 in number, strengthen and enrich multidisciplinary programs of research, instruction, and public service conducted by UNC faculty. They also have a strong positive impact on the economic development of the state by providing job opportunities, supplying technical assistance and training, fostering community development and outreach programs, and enhancing the transfer of new technologies. In FY 1999-2000 alone, UNC centers received $450 million in funding, employed 5,519 personnel, and produced 6,885 publications. (by John W. Hardin, Ph.D.)

Oct 19 '99 News. Pervasive's Partner Conference: Velocity. We're back from Austin and Pervasive's every 18 month partner's conference. "Velocity" was a truly impressive event- well planned, executed, and full of content and networking. Pervasive invested a tremendous amount in the event including a terrific location, setup, schedule, solid food and fun, and perhaps most important for many people, the presence of much of Pervasive's staff (including much of the Toronto development office). Aug 06 '99 News. Durham Public Schools use Web to Reach Parents. In the past, when parents of children in the Durham Public Schools had a question about test scores, special programs or up-coming events, they had to search a handful of different sources for answers. But now, all that information and more is available in one place... "It's so much better than the one it replaces," said David Holdzkom, an assistant superintendent who was exploring the site on his office computer Monday. "It's terrific." (by Kelly Brewington)
May 28 '99 News. Almost $2,000,000,000 Dollars Tracked: Capital Expenditures Status System (CAPSTAT). One of the more involved web applications we have encountered is the Capital Expenditures Status System (CAPSTAT) which tracks almost TWO BILLION DOLLARS of Projects. It is a terrific example of a web application that puts a streamlined, simple interface on a complex business challenge. There is a great deal of data validation, process enforcement, many-many communications, workflow, and anticipatory data defaults.
